Transport Manager CPC training costs: what to compare

Look beyond the headline fee and compare tuition, materials, exam arrangements, travel and time away from work.

Illustrative transport management learning scene

The right TM CPC budget includes more than the course price. Tuition, revision time, examination arrangements and travel can all affect the total commitment. Compare like with like: a printed study pack and a live tutor-led programme provide different kinds of support.

The four study routes

Our current advertised routes are Essentials at £195, Portal+ at £560, Online+ at £1,250 and Classroom at £1,650. Essentials centres on printed study material; Portal+ adds digital learning with 12 months of access; the tutor-led routes include 10 teaching days plus two exam-preparation days. View the course comparison and confirm the final price and inclusions before paying.

Check examination arrangements separately

Ask who will register you for the assessments, when registration closes and what examination charges apply. Make sure you understand whether a quoted package includes those charges. Also ask about resits, transfers and any administration fees. A low headline price is not enough information to compare two offers.

GOV.UK confirms that examination fees are payable and advises candidates to check the cost with their exam provider. Its qualification guidance also explains the two-part assessment.

Budget for attendance and revision

For classroom learning, consider transport, parking arrangements, meals and any accommodation you need. For live online learning, check that you have a suitable computer, audio, camera where required and a quiet place to attend. Both routes need concentration and protected time; online tuition should not be treated as something to leave running alongside your normal shift.

If you are self-employed, consider time away from paid work. If an employer is funding the course, agree how teaching and revision time will fit around your duties. A clear arrangement is more useful than an informal promise to find time later.

Compare support, not just content

Ask how questions are handled and what practice material is available. Someone who needs regular explanations may get more value from tuition than from repeatedly buying study resources. A confident independent learner may prefer to work through notes and request help only when needed.
